We’d be willing to bet we’re the only firm within 250 miles of the Twin Cities with partners who designed and built their homes, and practiced sustainability 10 years before everything became “green,” and led congregations to create visioning exercises specifically for them, and waded through junk yards with clients searching for the perfect patina, and toughed it out with students to build structures for kids in hurricane-ravaged Biloxi, and compiled 40 years-worth of traditional and alternative building experience, and organize free lectures on relationship based creativity, and blog on sustainability, and commute to work regularly by bicycle, with a wall of design awards to give us credibility. We can create experiences for you because we thrive in creating them ourselves.
Wynne G. Yelland
Wynne knew he wanted to be an architect at age 15. He is a LOCUS founder, relentless designer, focused listener, consummate organizer, and green building guru. Projects range from the curve of a handrail to the orchestration of a 40,000 square foot church campus. He curates LOCUS’ 2X2 lecture series, contributes to LAB (the LOCUS Architecture Blog), and rides a bike to work. Wynne recommends a mix of kimchi, skiing and snowboarding, brewing, parenting, and sleep deprivation as a foundation for a breadth of experiences.
He is a graduate of U.C. Berkeley and Harvard University, and lives in a South Minneapolis home designed and built by LOCUS, with his wife and children.
Paul V. Neseth
Paul knew he wanted to be an architect at age 10. He is a LOCUS founder, conceptual designer, devil’s advocate, macro thinker, and comprehensive detailer. Paul brings a passion for new architectural ideas to the firm through investigations into and experiments with alternative construction methods and materials. In 2009, he founded RAW (Real Architecture Workshop), which offers him the chance to travel, teach, and experiment with students enrolled in the Workshop’s intensive design/build courses. Paul enjoys watching his kids compete, tinkering with materials, and enjoying the occasional slab of pickled herring.
He is a graduate of St. Olaf College and Harvard University, and lives in a South Minneapolis home designed and built by LOCUS, with his wife and children.
Adam B. Jonas
Adam first worked with LOCUS at age 19. Studying architecture in Rome, Glasgow and Helsinki left little time for office work, but he eventually settled down in Minneapolis a decade later. His multidisciplinary background includes a convergence of painting, poetry, and sculpture, complimented recently by Permaculture Design certification and Yoga Teacher certification. Adam favors Argentine tango to salsa, acrylic sgraffito to oil brushes, applied permaculture to LEED points, winter biking to driving, and saunas to steam rooms.
He is a graduate of Iowa State University.
