We successfully collaborated with the entire Birchwood staff as well as patrons to address issues from maintenance to service efficiency to construction phasing. The original 1926 creamery building was completely renovated, while keeping the neighborhood feel that so many patrons have enjoyed since the Cafe first opened in 1995.

The kitchen was expanded, bathrooms added, and a new Community Room respectfully incorporated into the existing building. Birchwood is more than just a restaurant, it’s a community hub that promotes sustainability.

In keeping with that spirit, we incorporated numerous sustainable features throughout the project including solar panels, daylight harvesting, recycled materials, local products (such as Wood from the Hood tables) and an organic garden that provides food for the kitchen.
