Phil Hofstad

Senior Project Designer

Phil grew up amongst Wisconsin dairy farms and rolling hills, and while he has lived in Minneapolis since college, he still favors the countryside for leisure, whether to the North Shore, the lake country of Minnesota, national and state parks, or trips further afield to Iceland, Italy, and the ancestral home of Norway. Phil's father was an art teacher, and his parents believed in a strong background in art, architecture, and classical music.

Synthesizing those interests, he earned his BA in Studio Art at St. Olaf College, where he spent most of his hours creating - drawing, sculpting, rehearsing, and touring with the St. Olaf Choir. He went on to complete his Master of Architecture at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities. Phil has worked with several architectural firms in Minneapolis over 25 years, gaining valuable design and detailing experience across a wide variety of building types. In his free time, he has enjoyed coaching his kids' athletic teams, performing in community theater, and still finds time to sing in a choir.
